ALL I WANTED WHEN I WAS A KID WAS A DAD

I remember when I was about 11 years old…

I was in 6th grade and football was all I could ever think about!

I had just started playing my first year of tackle football and I was obsessed!

Not only was i obsessed, but I was good!

In my first game ever, first touch ever, I took it 84 yards to the house on a ‘36 counter’ (which meant the three back was to hit the 6 hole on a counter move to the inside).

Over the next few weeks, I’d continue to dominate the field, and in my mind, I couldn’t imagine how I WOULDN’T win the Heisman Trophy one day! (An annual seared and trophy for the the best college football player in the nation)

Isn’t that just like a little kid… To have such big hopes, big ambitions, big dreams?

Pay close attention now, because this is where my first ever limitation was born.

You see back then I didn’t want fame or fortune or anything.

Quite to the contrary…you see my parents were divorced when I was very young.

My dad was an alcoholic who didn’t make time for me ever and he lived far away, so he basically didn’t exist to me.

Meanwhile my step dad (who’d been my step dad for 7 years by the time I was 11) was the only male role model I had.

He was a hard hard hard working man (still is) and he never understood how I could want to play football and not want to work every waking moment of my life like him.

I’d BEG him to play catch with me. I’d say “if I get up and work with you all day for the whole week, can we please play catch for a little bit on Saturday??”, I’d plead with him.

Meanwhile I continued to have success on the field, and he continued to never play catch with me.

What happens next I’ll never forget…

And I only remember it because I was recently asked, “when’s the last time your remember feeling great about yourself, Marshal?”

The last time I felt great about myself was the day I walked into the barn on a morning after my masters football game (that I crushed in).

My step dad was there with the farm boss and some hired help.

They asked how my game went and I told them how good I had done!

Finally, I was about to get some male recognition for what I had been accomplishing in my new favorite life activity!

I was on cloud nine…for a brief second.

You see I got so excited that I exclaimed “I’m going to win the Heisman Trophy when I grow up!!!”

To which every single man there…busted up laughing RIGHT IN MY FACE! They said “hahahaha THERES NO WAY YOULL EVER DO THAT MARSHAL…haha NO WAY”

One guy even said “I’ll kiss your ass in national TV if you think you can do that”

And just like that… I started for the first time ever, telling myself there’s things I can’t accomplish. And even if you do, everyone will laugh at you and make fun of you and no males want to be your dad or your friend Marshal.

Why do I share this story? I share it because I want you to know that YOU ARE CAPABLE OF ANYTHING.

Too many of us have stories that are similar to this, different details but the same feelings at the end of the day.

And I’m here to tell you that those limitations that were put on you by someone else ARE NOT YOURS TO CARRY ANYMORE!

There’s a lot of us who haven’t felt or believed we were great for SO long because of limitations that were put on us as children.

I just wanted to share this story to remind you that no matter what’s happened in your past, it doesn’t have to be your truth or reality anymore.

Even I have been able to overcome it all! I’m now living and building the life of my dreams despite all of those shitty ppl in my life.

And I want you to do the same.

Take a look in the mirror and remind yourself of the last time your felt great about yourself.

And be aware of what you say and how you treat others, because we’re all going thru our own journeys and you never know the impact that you can have on someone else just by the words you say or don’t say.

It’s time to create your ultimate vision and tap into your greatest potential.

Which is exactly why I’m starting a FREE 5-Day Challenge called “Unlocking You Ultimate Vision and Tapping Into Your Greatest Potential” and id LOVE to have you join me!

Comment below and DM me for access to my free 5-day challenge starting on April 14th!

And remember, like my friend Les Brown always says… “You have greatness within you!”
